The shape of the conflict has changed. A unknown disease struck down the Orks and much of the Guard, whose commander and upper echelons disappeared misteriously. The Eldar, after a last desperate gamble, have abandoned this world to its fate. The few remaining combatants seem more desperate than ever to crush the life out of their opponents.

Sisters of the Revered Martyr

The Chaos Horde of Lord Sherman

Lord Sherman studied the reports. The deluded followers of the dead Emperor were closing in all sides. There was no escape. Sherman's ancient lips creased into a grin. "Are the preperations made?", he asked his lesser commanders.
"We are ready, my lord, they will fall into our trap." With the destruction of his enemies spearhead's they must perforce attend to other matters, such as the advance of the Black Guard in the East and the so-far nameless enemy. Then the way would be clear for Sherman to resume his search for his prize.
Celestial Lions Space Marines

0800 Hours
Revered Father Modeus strode towards the city of Veii, around him were arrayed the veterans of the Rhandar campaign their armour shining bright in the morning light. The taint of Chaos was everywhere, bloody icons marred the landscape and crackling warpstorms raged over the heart of the city. Modeus had no doubt that his children were entering the very heart of madness. One way or another, all would be decided soon.

1800 Hours
Night had fallen, and with it the battle had finally drawn to a close, repair servitors were at work re-attatching Revered Father Modeus's arms and replacing Old One Thalkin's torso actuators. While the repairs began Modeus called for squad reports. The Veteran Grey Beards reported that their fire had been mostly ineffective and out of range, they had suffered no casualties. Kaeleb and his Red Helms had charged too soon assaulting the heretic's stronghold, they had taken severe casualties, and were evacuated to the apothecarium in Fortress Iron Tower. The Furies had also proved most reckless driving their combat bikes into buildings, in their zeal to close with the enemy, as a result they had suffered the loss of two bikes, the marines however were alive and trying to repair their mounts. Lord Mordredar had been severely wounded after facing a fell champion of Slaanesh in single combat, his Retinue however had survived the battle unscathed a credit to their long experiance in this campaign. The Pride of the Martyrs had been severly damaged and had a reactor breach that might still prove catastrophic. Veriquiox and his Bodyguard reported a superb performance, Daemons, Cultists and Heretic Marines had all fallen to them, though Brother Claudio had been wounded, despite his mighty Terminator armour.

Modeus made his report to Inquisitor Bock, the perimeter was secure, the Battle for Veii ended in victory.

Black Guard Space Marines

There was much for the commander of the Black Guard to think about. So much had changed in the last few days. Fuegan and his forces had left the planet only yesterday, it was still hard to grasp why, they certainly had not been defeated by any enemy let alone the Black Guard. This was confirmed by his brethren on the Invictus who watched the craftworld ship leave orbit and then disappear into the warp. Other reports from the Invictus indicated that the Colonel's forces had also been struck down like the Orks had and it wasn't at the hands of the Eldar either. Something bad was happening and Enoch was sure the Eldar had some premonition of it and did not like what they found. The entire territory south of the Black Guards position was desolate from mountain to sea. The omens only got worse from there. Communications became strangled as warp storms buffeted the battle barge and the link was severed. The influence of chaos or something worse seemed to be in ascension on Rhandor. The only good news that came was a giant drop pod that landed outside of Stutgard only hours before the storms attacked. The noise of its landing could be heard from the entire valley, such was the weight of it. On board was the battle hardened warmachine Juggernaut and its veteran crew. It bristled with weapons that struck dread into the enemy. Designed during the four year campaign against the Ork horde Red Klaw in the Hollander sector it possessed armament to counter tanks and troops with equal ease. Juggernaut would be a valuable asset against any enemy the Black Guard would face. It was time to dig further south and uncover what had happened.
